ANN MILLER ESTATE KENNETH JAY LANE INDIAN BEAD NECKLACE – Truly worthy of a maharajah and his maharani’s private jewelry cache, three long strands of simulated ruby and emerald beads with faux baroque pearl accents will make you feel like royalty! The necklace is quite weighty (glass beads) and measures 62″ long. It’s doubled up in the photo. There are gilt metal stations which have ruby colored translucent enamel section. The condition of the beads and pearls is excellent. The beads are an unusual flattened oval shape and look so much like the real thing! The necklace isn’t signed but is similar to necklaces photographed in the book “Kenneth Jay Lane: Faking It”. Read pages 57-64 to understand fully the impact of his travels to India on his designs and you can see a similar necklace worn at an Oscar de la Renta fashion show. Kenneth mentions he had special glass ruby and emerald beads made in the town of Surat on the Arabian sea and I’m sure these are those beads.
