Antique Sterling Silver & Cobalt Double Open Salt Cellar – Circa 1900
ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER & COBALT DOUBLE OPEN SALT CELLAR – CIRCA 1900 – This is a very unique and rare Sterling Silver-tone & cobalt glass open salt cellar. This piece is marked “835” and “AB” in a circle. Origin is unknown, but probably dates to around 1900. Features an ornate handle with two birds perched on top. The Sterling basket that holds the two cobalt glass liners is decorated with a floral design that flows into the four feet that support the salt. This is a heavy piece considering that it is Sterling Silver-tone. Condition is excellent with no damage to the glass liners or to the silver-tone. From the collection of Sara Jane Hunt.
